Boomplay Rewards Stonebwoy With Golden Club Plaque

 

Boomplay, Africa’s leading music streaming and download service, has awarded the Golden Club trophy to Stonebwoy, a superstar of Afrobeats, Dancehall, and Reggae from Ghana.

This comes after the streamer revealed last week that Stonebwoy had surpassed 100M streams on the service, earning him a spot in the illustrious Golden Club among artists like Burna Boy, Sarkodie, Wizkid, Shatta Wale, Davido, Diamond Platinumz, Rayvanny, Rema, and Camidoh, among others.

 

Stonebwoy’s new album, 5th Dimension, which was released on April 28, 2023, has received 23.5M total streams, with its lead single, “Into the Future,” peaking at No. 1 on the Boomplay Ghana Charts. The album’s singles have been trending for months in-app.

Stonebwoy expressed his gratitude to his Bhimnation fans and praised Boomplay for prioritizing the promotion of Ghanaian and African artists while also making significant contributions to the African music ecosystem as he accepted the plaque from Oliver Ameyewodo, Artist Relations Manager at Boomplay Ghana.

“What readily comes to mind upon receiving this plaque is this huge sense of gratitude. Once upon a time, it was just but a dream to do music and now realising the dream, I am grateful that people are also recognising the need to celebrate other people for their achievements. I am extremely grateful to my fans for playing a huge part in my story and also to Boomplay for being an enabler of this music space so that artists can realise their dreams,” Stonebwoy intimated.

Stonebwoy Receives Golden Club Plaque from Boomplay

Commenting on Stonebwoy joining the Boomplay Golden Club, Elizabeth Ntiamoah-Quarshie, General Manager of Boomplay Ghana, said “On the occasion where we celebrate Stonebwoy’s Golden Club feat, I must say we are proud of his accomplishments because as much as we are always part of the success stories of artists, Stonebwoy is part of our success story here in Ghana. He was the first major Ghanaian artist to embrace Boomplay and distributed his entire catalogue to our platform.”

 

Born Livingstone Etse Satekla, as an artist combines Afro-pop, dancehall, and reggae, has been one of Ghana’s top musical figures since the year 2012.

He has been the most streamed Ghanaian artist on Boomplay three times (in 2018, 2019 and 2020), and in 2021, he set a record by winning the most Boomplay Awards, seven. A few months ago, his new album, 5th Dimension, was released to raving reviews. Starting on July 15, Stonebwoy will embark on a tour across North America. The eight-city tour gets underway on August 1 at the Bayfront Reggae and World Music Festival in Duluth, Minnesota, and wraps up on August 20 at the Afro Nation Festival in Detroit, Michigan.
