Pres. Describes Senator Johnson’s Recent War Threats As “Reckless” -Vows ‘Liberia Will Not Returns To War’

President George M. Weah has termed as ‘reckless’ statement made by Nimba County Senator Prince Johnson that borders on threatening Liberia’s peace.

The Liberian Chief Executive spoke, during an intercessory service held at the Winners Chapel Church over the weekend, upon his retur to Liberia.

The President further assured that will not allow the country to return to War nor there will be rebel checkpoints planted across the country.

This, President Weah stressed, “Liberians hearing across the country, no need to panic because there will be no War or any checkpoints planted for people to call their name/names before passing.”

He also promised to ensure the country remains on the path of peace while saying No to War, assuring of a free, fair and transparent electoral process in October of this year.

However, prior to the President’s assertion, Nimba County Senator and former warlord, Prince Johnson was heard warning against any attempts by the government to rig the upcoming general elections.

Sen. Johnson, known for his participation in the country’s 14 years of war and killing of former President Samuel K. Doe said, “The people are resolve to protect their ballots.”

“And any attempts by this government would witness the Arab scenario. You will shot us will your guns and if we don’t die, we will come after you,” he said.

In what many believed to be a buttressed to Senator Johnson’s statement, Unity Party (UP) standard bearer, Joseph Boakai warned that it would be the end of Liberia if CDC-Gov’t attempts to rig October 10 Presidential and Legislative elections.

This, former Vice President Boakai told citizens in Grand Bassa that, “if the Government think they will steal the election, it will be the end of the country”.

He at the same time called on UP alliance and other citizens to protect their votes, and not allow it to be rigged by the CDC government.
