Some 182 insourced security guards for the city of Johannesburg, South Africa, have reportedly turned out to be rapists, thieves and murderers.
Local media outlet, The Citizen, first reported about the security guards’ real identities being revealed after a forensic screening process.
Report says no vetting was carried out prior to the security guards’ appointments.
They were said to have been appointed in 2018 by former Mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba.
According to the report, the guards have been sacked after it was discovered they had criminal records such as rape, assault, murder.
A forensic analysis report from Johannesburg’s GFI, as reported by The Citizen, revealed that some 2,952 security guards had been insourced out of which the 182 were discovered to be criminals.
