Gyakie Becomes first African Female Artist to Partner Spotify Equals Program

Afro-fusion singer, Jackeline Acheampong, popularly known as Gyakie, has made another history for being the first female African artist to partner with the Spotify Equals program.

The program forms part of the Equal Hub initiative, which was launched in commemoration of International Women’s Day and adds to the audio streaming platform’s effort to extend its global commitment to fostering equity for women in music.

Gyakie was shortlisted together with other female acts including American rapper Saweetie, Brazillian pop artist Duda Beat, British singer-songwriter Griff, Mexico Natalia Lafourcade, and German singer Zoe Wees.

She took to her Instagram page to share a photo of her featured on a billboard in America and wrote “I am deeply honored to be the first African woman to partner with Spotify for Equal. This is huge for so many women across the continent and the entire globe”.
