3 police officers, Lieutenant withdrawn from National Security over assault on CitiFM Journalist

 

Some three police officers and a army lieutenant have been withdrawn from the national security ministry in Ghana over alleged assault of a journalist.

The journalist is Caleb Kudah who works with Accra-based CitiFM.

The withdrawal of the officers was made known by the National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah in a statement dated May 20, 2021.

The statement indicated that an investigation Committee was set up by the Ministry of National Security to investigate a report of assault of Mr Kudah of CitiFM on May 11, 2021.

It noted that the Committee established that the conduct of Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman, Director of Operations and some police officers at the Ministry on th said day was inappropriate and contravened the Ministry’s standard operating procedures.

It said the secondment of Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyekum at the Ministry has been reversed, adding that “the officer is to report to the Chief of Defence Staff for further investigation and appropriate action.”
