France and Real Madrid’s striker, Karim Benzema, has won the prestigious Onze d’Or award.
The Onze d’Or award is presented by Onze Mondial magazine to a player in Europe for a particular season.
Benzema was awarded as the best player of the 2020-21 season.
The award is voted on by the Magazine’s readers, with Benzema, who has scored 29 goals this season, obtaining 47.3% of the votes, ahead of Messi (20.1%) and Lewandowski (11.3%).
The Onze d’Or or Onze Mondial European Footballer of the Year is an association football award given by French magazine Onze Mondial since 1976.
The award honors the best player in Europe, with any player in a European league eligible.
