A self-proclaimed Guinean Imam has been arrested for allegedly leading Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in Madingo instead of Arabic.
Nanfo Diaby was arrested in Kankan, Guinea Conakry.
Local media reports in Guinea says the country’s Office of Religious Affairs had previously cautioned Diaby to desist from the practice described as blasphemy.
According to reports, after leading the prayers in Madingo, angry protesters attacked his mosque.
He was later arrested by Guinea’s national police officers.
