President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced plans for the reopening of cinemas across Ghana.
He made the announcement in his Update No. 25 on measures being taken against coronavirus in Ghana.
Delivering the update on Sunday night, May 16, 2021, the President said Government, has in a move towards the reopening of cinemas and theatres, engaged cinema owners and operators on aset of protocols and guidelines that need to be put in place and implemented by all operators before eventual re-opening.

Cinemas and theatres in Ghana have remained closed since March 15, 2020 after the country recorded its first two cases of coronavirus.
In recent days, some entertainment stakeholders including actress Yvonne Nelson, have been campaigning for the reopening of the country’s cinemas.
As African Entertainment earlier reported, the campaign for the reopening of cinemas has largely been spearheaded on social media.
