Prisoners to get historic voting right in Gambia

Prisoners in The Gambia are expected to receive a historic voting right.

This comes after several efforts by the Gambia’s Human rights commission to ensure that every adult Gambian can vote as stipulated in the constitution.

When that is done, it will be the first time in the history of the Francophone nation for prisoners to vote in national elections.

Gambia will be heading to the polls nationwide within less than seven months from now.

And it remains unclear if prisoners will vote in the upcoming elections.
