Afro-fusion Star Omah Lay Expands Boy Alone Album With Deluxe

The enhanced deluxe edition of Omah Lay’s album Boy Alone has been released. Six new songs are included in the stacked release, including the contemplative “reason” and an Ozuna-assisted remix of the viral hit “soso.” But the enhanced album’s diverse sounds and pleasant surprises don’t stop there.

“closer,” a dark song with contagious Afro-beats, sparse percussion, and thought-provoking lyrics, opens the additional songs. The modest “it’s yours,” a captivating anthem that incorporates rhythmic percussion and wonderful synths, is also included. “Imagine,” a silky-smooth rendition of the R&B barnburner by Lay that included a contribution from British rapper Aitch, is another gem.

Then there is “reason,” which stands out for its ambitious, multi-layered, layered approach, evocative percussion, and natural choral harmonies. The end result is a sophisticated, Afrobeat joy that is incredibly meaningful and melodious. The deluxe edition, which has received more than 240 million global streams, also features the brand-new remix of his smash hit “soso” with reggaeton sensation Ozuna.

The smash songs “attention” with Justin Bieber, “woman,” and “understand” from Boy Alone are also among his accomplishments. These songs attracted media attention from The New York Times, HYPEBEAST, The FADER, Billboard, NME, and others. Lay received a nomination for “Outstanding International Song” at the 2022 NAACP Image Awards in honor of his talent and labor of love.

In addition to lending his instantly recognizable voice to a number of notable Afrobeats hits this year, such as Libianca’s “People,” Tempoe’s “Soweto,” Bella Shmurda’s “Philo,” and most recently, his collaboration with Big Boss Vette on “I Can’t Stop,” which was included on the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack. Lay builds on his successful songs with Boy Alone Deluxe, going deeper and presenting novel ideas that foreshadow great things to come for the Nigerian singer.
