Hoodlums macheted landlord to death in Akute, Ogun State

The Nigeria Police in Ogun State have arrested a gang of hoodlums, believed to be the killer of businessman, Akinola Agbede, in Akute, a border town between Ogun and Lagos State on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

It was revealed that the 25-year-old Olabode Aremu, alleged leader of the gang and the suspected killer of Mr Akinola, laid ambush on Akinola,a landlord in the area in the early hours of the night, burgled his house, and macheted him to death.

Aremu had earlier been arrested for an offence, which led to parading him in the community before he was taken into custody.

Days he gained his freedom, Aremu and his gang accused the late Mr Akinola of making jest of him while he was paraded in the community.

According to sources, The suspects and his gangs allegedly used an uncompleted building directly opposite the deceased house in Akute, as their hideout.

The gang has been accused of several heinous crimes within the environs of Akute and its suburbs.

The late Akinola and his household were billed to leave the country next week to seek greener pastures before his untimely death.

The Akinola family are pleading to the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to help in intervening into the case and bring justice to the killers.

The residents have also called on the Nigerian police force and other security agencies, to enforce the ban on the illegal occupation of abandoned buildings and properties under construction in Ogun state.
